Isis Rose and Ill Legit (The Gent$) are two uniquely passionate driven talents that have collaborated over a period of time to create their latest project, "Animated Affliction, Isis&Illy EP 2011". They began recording in early 2010, hitting it off musically from the first moment of introduction. From then on, fueled by their "animated" personalties and the "afflictions" in their lives, they continued to work on music until they completed their project, a 10-track collection of eclectic music from two brilliantly accomplished individuals. Here is that story.
While a senior at the University of Oregon in 2007, Aaron Firestein began drawing on shoes and posting the pictures to Facebook. He viewed white, canvas sneakers as a medium to showcase his art and spent hours expressing himself through this unordinary platform. Aaron's "wearable art" became an instant hit with his peers and he started selling the shoes out of his apartment as a hobby. In 2008, Aaron moved to Buenos Aires and took BucketFeet with him. While volunteering with children in an impoverished area of Buenos Aires, he met fellow volunteer Raaja Nemani, who had just started a year-long backpacking trip around the world. They immediately hit it off while playing fĂștbol with kids from the local neighborhood, and Raaja even bought his first pair of custom BucketFeet a few days later. Shortly thereafter, Raaja moved on to explore another continent while Aaron stayed back to start an event photography business, but they managed to stay in touch and remain close friends.
Two years later, Raaja moved back to Chicago after working in Abu Dhabi, while Aaron was continuing to sell his one-of-a-kind shoes. Both Raaja and Aaron were itching for a new opportunity and neither could silence their entrepreneurial minds. Raaja reached out to Aaron in May of 2010 and they agreed it was the perfect time to take BucketFeet to the next level. Well, as they say, the rest is history! BucketFeet was born (again) with a mission to sell awesome kicks and make an impact in the lives of kids worldwide. The new company’s motto, Buy a Shoe, Build a Community was born!

DENSE93.. no wait... 83! Im DENSE83.
While Dense83 evidently didn’t retain much about the American Constitution in his seventh grade history class, he did find the inspiration that would jump start his interest in design. The bubble and tag letters that late graffiti writer Kizer snuck in notes to #83 during the school day evolved into a unique style by the hand of the writer now known as Dense83. The influence of Dense83’s graffiti foundation has made its way onto several hundred walls, garbage cans, street signs, canvases, planks of wood, windows, and other found objects now exhibited in (and on) an array of galleries, coffee houses and retail stores across the city's of Chicago, and Austin Texas. Vibrant and energetic color palettes, violently mechanical lines and graphic underpinning inherent in that style of street art characterize even his more abstract, nonrepresentational works less noticeably inspired by graffiti.
Things aren’t looking too good for the people of Chicago with this blizzard coming through this week, possibly shutting the city down. Now would be a great time to download some heat from Chicago Indie Hip-Hop artist OneTwoKnow…
